The city of San Antonio and Chick-fil-A recently ignited controversy after the city council voted to ban the company from its list of airport vendors, pointing to the company’s views on LGBTQ issues. The Texas attorney general has opened an investigation regarding the exclusion. Firm partner David Coale discussed the matter with Fox 4 reporter Lori Brown and says the city has an argument, but so does Chick-fil-A.
“If I were Chick-fil-A and I wanted to mount a legal challenge, I would say this is an unfair condition. You are giving me the benefit of doing business in your airport, but you are conditioning it on me giving up my first amendment right to speak about issues and policy, and that’s not fair.”
